Mubadala unit wins key Chinese MRO certification

2018/11/07

ABU DHABI

UAE-based Aerospace Turbine Services & Solutions (TS&S), a leading maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider for aero engines and a wholly-owned unit of Mubadala Investment Company, has become the first in the region to be certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to service V2500 engines.

Announcing this today at the MRO Asia-Pacific conference in Singapore, Mubadala said the significant achievement will see the UAE-based company expand its MRO facility for V2500 engines on aircraft operating under Chinese registration.

Building on its success in achieving approvals from international aviation regulatory authorities in Asia (Nepal, China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Thailand), and South America (Brazil, Chile and Argentina), TS&S is holding the Mena region’s highest number of civil aviation authority certifications.

So far this year the Abu Dhabi-based MRO has achieved a 60 per cent increase in certifications, underpinned by fast and growing international MRO markets, said a statement from the company.

At the moment, China is the second largest domestic aviation market in the world with the fastest growing passenger traffic rate of 6.6 per cent annually. This certification gives TS&S a great opportunity to take its expertise and globally recognized service capabilities in aero engines to the world’s second largest economy and fastest growing aviation industry, it stated.

Mansoor Janahi, the acting CEO of TS&S, said: "As the region’s only CAAC-certified MRO, we are honoured to be recognised by an international leading aviation authority for our industry leadership."

"Our teams have extensively worked to meet the toughest requirements of CAAC which is a recognition of the highest quality and premium standards of our work," he added.

The engine repair and overhaul operations will continue to take place at TS&S’ state-of-the-art facilities in Abu Dhabi.-TradeArabia News Service
