Al Dhafra Petroleum to produce 40,000 bpd of oil by 2020

ABU DHABI

Al Dhafra Petroleum, a unit of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), will produce 40,000 barrels of oil per day by 2020 as part of the group’s plans to increase output, Adnoc said.

Al Dhafra, a joint venture between Adnoc, Korean National Oil Corporation (KNOC) and GS Energy, will produce 20,000 bpd of oil by mid-2019, increasing progressively to 40,000 bpd by 2020, Adnoc said in a statement.

Oil will be produced from the Haliba field, southeast of Abu Dhabi. Larsen & Toubro Hydrocarbon Engineering is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.

Phase one of the EPC work includes 32 wells and construction of a 65 km pipeline to carry crude oil from the Haliba wells to Adnoc's onshore processing station.

“The infrastructure investment will increase our group-wide production capacity and optimise our assets by utilising our existing onshore facilities, allowing Adnoc to develop previously untapped oil reserves in an efficient way,” Abdulmunim al Kindy, director of upstream at Adnoc, said in the statement. -- Reuters
